Glass prison

Glass prison

A Poem by Soren

A wild flower in bloom picked
Was put in a glass bowl, where her beauty shown
Straightening her wilt, on thorns my fingers pricked
Petals dropped over wall of glass, leaving me alone

Your perfume lingers in dusty air
A water spotted bowel sits with decay
Cut from roots, brief life of despair
From a glass prison, you got away

Oh, a very poignant write in this beautiful poem, Soren. I love the visual detail of the wild flower in bloom which was picked and put in a glass bowl filled with water to show her beauty. But she was a wild flower and did not like being imprisoned in the beautiful glass bowl. Her perfume was her gift as she died, her beautiful petals falling over the wall of glass. She died and left the glass prison behind. It is SO beautiful and simultaneously SO sad, Soren. The flower loved the open countryside where she was born, I think she found it heartbreaking to leave it to live in a vase of water! Sublime metaphoric write, beautifully penned and expressed. Thank you for sharing, Soren...

Sadly, this is so true, dear Soren... You captured it superbly. Thank you again for sharing...
like the other poem i reviewed today, this can be read many ways. is it simply an ode to a wildflower, or of the fleeting beauty in this world? you can be a man who is hard to read, Soren.
