Never

Never

A Poem by Soren

How many times have you said never only to return upon  your word
a cloud drifting heather to the sea, returning to its nest like a bird
The whip of the master in the barrel of a gun
no need of a trigger to make people run

With tongue of bullets, eyes blades of steel scraping bone
flying with lightning feathers and talons made of stone
eruption atomic, sleeping ash covers lipstick shame
seppuku on a cross resurrecting angel tame

perfumed breeze, siren of silk fur
lotus of charity wrapped in a kitten purr
tornado in a paradise dress
b***h slap then tender caress

We change our minds more often than we eat breakfast and in spite of the circumstances while we mean "NO!" at the time, we go back on our promise to ourselves again and again and again. Seppuku the act of ritual suicide which originated in Japan's ancient warrior class, we commit it many times during our lifetime. The final verse speaks loudly and clearly to me, the imagery is superb and the metaphor exquisite, it portrays a femme fatale eloquently. Amazing write! Thank you for sharing, Soren...

Most welcome always, Soren...
Coincidentally, the past two days I have been listening to Heart's greatest hits in my car.
Singing along to "Never"---your poem made me start humming that song as I was reading.

Wordsworth and Coleridge would love this poem, but both would blush at the last line.

"tornado in a paradise dress" is a great line.
I really love this piece...I love metaphor anyway, but "tongue of bullets"? Wow on that one.

At least we all can connect and know we are not alone with the statement "Never" only to return.
