A shadow's weight

A shadow's weight

A Poem by Soren

Too heavy my shadow's weight
Can you hear the echo of its fall?
On my back the burden of fate
Each inch of time, a click of the pawl

Shade of night crushing my breath
a dark knot around my throat
My shadow's weight lifted by death
as I board Charon's boat

Once I met a Apache in the Fault line of California. He told me. John, don't look for death. He will find you when he wants you. I got old and I don't fear death. I fear what am I leaving for my grandchildren. Powerful and worthwhile words shared my friend.

I echo your feelings John death is but another step it is in this life that we trip and fall. Thanks.. read more
The shadow of death can only be shaken when we cross over to Spirit, dear Soren and you have captured that superbly in both word and imagery in this sublime write. I love how you depict Charon from Greek Mythology ferrying you over to Spirit. Love this poem! Takes me back to second level College once again! Lovely work, Soren. Thank you for sharing...
