What I left behind

What I left behind

A Poem by Soren

Forking trails on a walk
what is left I find becomes right
Listening to a breeze to trees talk
whispering what lies within and out of sight

Each step you take, each twig you break
leaves green impressions of where you've been
Every breath you make any bird you wake
leaves in mind, a blessing or sin

Each drop of blood stains dark its mark
What I touch leaves growing fingerprints
The flashing arc of a smile, in memory a spark
behind the scent of love's glints

Everything we do in life leaves a carbon footprint behind us. Every lie, whether discovered or not by another, has an impact on someone. Everything we do or don't do, leaves either a blessing or a curse. Only love leaves a spark like a shining star in memories. As I read this very interesting poem, a song entered my mind, Sting's Every breath you take, every move you make, I'll be watching you!" I don't know if it's been sparked by the words of the poem or if it is relevant in some other way? A very inspiring poem with lovely use of symbolism to get the point across to the reader. Well penned, Soren! Lovely work. Thank you for sharing...

Are we conscious of what we leave behind us on our trail through life? Certainly some try their very best to not inflict any damage, then there are the others who wield a sledge hammer as they pass through. I am thinking politicians at the moment. We have got a new brand of callous recently elected. Many old people will freeze to death this winter. Their energy allowance has been removed. In the meantime, the rich untouchables get wealthier by the day. A thought provoking journey you took me on Soren.
