My brother

My brother

A Poem by Soren

A hungry man holds out a dirty hand
A small child whimpers in the street
A dying fish flops in the sand
A limping dog with wounded feet

Do you count them as your brother?
Will you care about what they need?
Or do you wait for another?
To give aid or them to feed?

Do you hide your face out of fear?
Look at them with Disgust?
Are you too busy to lend an ear?
Too petrified and jaded with mistrust?

Have you stood in their place?
Felt sick, hungry, alone?
Or do you think it’s a disgrace?
To step down from your throne?

Thank you Arundass your review is most appreciated and valued.
Our present day world need more poems like this ssssssoooooo badly, Soren. Everywhere we go, everywhere we look there are brothers, sisters, little animals who so need our help, but not every human being has a heart big enough to give until it hurts their pocket, sadly. The only way to understand for someone who lives in poverty, is to live in poverty oneself. Only then will we feel the hurt of being shunned, the pain of hunger and thirst, only then will we be able to show empathy to others. A truly WONDERFUL poem which should be printed on every box of cereal bought so it could be read each morning as a family sit down to a meal that others will never sit down to. Excellently constructed around our brothers, sisters and little animals big and small, bless all... Your words are haunting those who pass by without contributing whatever help they can. How can human beings be so nasty! Selfishness and ingratitude are beyond my understanding! Your words show the beauty of your soul, it is on display throughout the poem, dear Soren. A truly wonderful poem full of sensitivity to those less better off than we are. Angel blessings to you as I thank you for sharing, dear poet...

Your words are a nudge, a pointer and a plea to those who live in their own little world oblivious to real life and the horrors in it. So many ignore the other side of the world, turn their heads, grip their eyes to their sockets and do nothing for anybody unless.. please put your name - - - - - - - - - - soemewhere a long there.

Fine words put written with the same hands that put out a begging bowl for those who desperately need its more than overflowing nothingness. Words put with empathetic passion.
