Without Grace

Without Grace

A Poem by Soren

With Faith I struggled and after her death
I encountered Hope, who had lived close by
Hope was thin, grew old, then passed away
Chastity came but withheld too much
Charity, who was so giving, entered my life.
April brought warmth and bouquets of flowers
May, I say, she was very nice.
But it was in June that I found the most pleasure
At last Peace entered my life

beautiful piece....
"April come she will
when streams are ripe and swelled with rain
May she will stay
resting in my arms again"

Thank you, Jacob for the read. It is most appreciated as always.
This one reminds of the works of John Bunyan and others of previous times who humanized the higher spiritual qualities. Indeed, I can see how chastity could withhold too much. Just ask those pedophile priests.

I loved how you describe all of these processes with the best possible descriptions. I can't help but wonder if grace has a meaning. I felt grace in every corner of this poem. Always stay in peace. you are an amazing poet

Thank you for such praise on this simple ditty. I am most appreciative for your kind words
I love how the three theological virtues are intermingled with the months in this very meaningful, allegorical gem. I love how, when Faith was slim, Hope was close by to help though sadly, she slipped away. Chastity appeared but was selective with her gifts and lacked the generosity of Charity who would give you anything and ask for nothing in return. The warmth of Spring and April flowers and though the poet liked her very much, it was June's arrival that he treasured most, she brought him the most joy, uplifted his drooping spirit and wrapped a beautiful blanket of peace around him. Awe inspiring, magical write which I so enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing, dear Soren...
