Shadow's reflection

Pain and joy go together

like rain and sunny weather

One as close to the other

as a sister to a brother

A coin has two sides

one showing while the other hides

Shadow of a reflection

points in the other direction

Dark of night or cloudy day

shadows and reflections go away

leaving only what you feel

a lightning flash of what is real

What remains clings for but a flash! That is quite a formidable conclusion and defines for me in its way how poetry can sometimes be- a reflection or a shadow, rainy or sunny and either way. Superb experience as my return to the land of the ‘living.’

I love how the poet reflects on both sides of the one coin of life in this superbly penned, insightful and thought provoking poem. I love how the good (joy) and the not so good (pain) are depicted as brother and sister, as are all the good and not so good experiences in life. They are twins born at the same time as each human being is and they come forth in one's life as life goes on. It is true that shadows slip away leaving only a little glimpse into the real we have experienced and that little insight is soon lost in the mists of time as we forget what we experienced. Wow! I have to say that I love this captivating write which imparts so much to the reader in so few words. It has provided me with a lot to think about later in my day! Lovely work, Soren.
