Recipe for life despised as sin

Ingredients revised by religion

Cooked in hell fire seasoned with hate

Served overdone on a priest's plate

Tender hearts stewed and fried

with a sauce of freedom's suicide

Sweet meats are not allowed

Salted treats picked from a cloud

An old cookbook served as the model

nature's wonders to pickle and bottle

Cooked without gas, flame or electric power

Cake for the mass' to devour

Religion has much to answer for, there can be no doubt about that. Priests preached one thing but practiced something entirely different, without any fear of going to Hell. Of course, that is because does not, never has and never will be created, but it was used to instill fear into those who followed religion believing they were on the right path. Religion was created for control of the masses and in most cases the m was silent! Phenomenal write, beautiful metaphor, great depiction too! Well said, dear poet. Thank you for sharing...

A sin so it used to be unless used for procreation,what a sad world it used to be with ingredients only accepted by the rites of religion or even spirits in times long ago.
Thank goodness for freedom from the slavery and chains where lovemaking is concerned ...
