Words of smoke

Words of smoke

A Poem by Soren

Under a burnt ash of brain, glowing embers of a heart remain

Smoke words raise high, cloud poems in an empty sky

Virgin eyes that stare, see different images in that air

To one a marker of graves, to another a cross that saves

In sparks to smoke dreams depart

From a flaming heart, billowing emotions paint their art

then drift away through the open door of day

Riding on the back of time, smoke rhyme at which we did stare

soon becomes just thin air

Love turns our mind to cotton wool and we can think of nothing but the one we love. When that love leaves us, our dreams are like smoke, they drift off up into the sky where they take many forms for those who have eyes to see. Emotions, happy or sad, set the heart aflame and dreams drift away through open door of our heart into the light of day and the different images simply fade away and disappear to become simply thin air, never seen again.
A very emotional write, dear Soren. We've all been there with love which we thought would live forever, to find that the one we loved did not love us as we loved them and that meant the relationship couldn't be kept together, the bond was broken.
But, somehow we struggled through it and continued to search for the love we were meant to have. I discovered on my journey, that to have love, one must be love and people only love us as much as they are able to and for many that is not much, but it is the best they can do.
Exquisite metaphor, as always, throughout the poem. Depiction is excellent, so many different pictures painted for your reader through well chosen words. I like this poem v-e-r-y much! Romance gone wrong, is something we can all identify with I guess. Thank you so very much for sharing, Soren. Lovely work, dear friend...

Most welcome always, dear Soren. Thank you, dear friend...
how this speaks to me.....enough times I had my heart broken and could have had my brain tell me
to quit...to never trust again...but the heart is stronger than we often give it credit for being.
And mine has survived...Maybe enough of romantic love, but getting closer in other terms...
I like all the references to the smoke and ash...and then how it just becomes thin air.
