The immortal

The immortal

A Poem by Soren

No movement does it make

The immortal sits in a dark corner

What some think fake has always been awake

To all that knew it, it's been a mourner

Unchanged since the day we met

No water or nourishment does it take

Mute mouth from the air water does get

It shows no pain or ache

Without eyes it holds me in its stare

Before time began in my head

this plant has always been there

and will go on after all are dead

Author's Note

Soren
Over 52 years ago and how long before no one knows there was a potted plant that stood in my mother in laws house. Since she has gone, as has my father in law, brother's in law, sister's in law and now it is my turn. The plant remains unchanged although the house remains shut up for months on end.

Wow! I love the amazing story of this tree which time has forgotten. Unaffected by time or being shut up for months on end, it truly seems immortal. Please may I ask what kind of plant it is, Soren?
It really is a miracle plant and your poem is a beautiful magical write. I so enjoyed reading and thank you for sharing, dear friend...

This is cool. The immovable plant standing firm in its potted glory regardless of the times changing around it. I like it. Imagine being a bristlecone pine and hanging around for 4 or 5 millennia...if trees and plants could talk...

Thanks Fabian for the read and remarks. They are appreciated and valued.
Just out of interest to this gardener, what kind of plant is it!!!?

It's so true, some plants - not always the most beautiful, live on and on, adjusting to casual care, whether too dry or hot, place in home or what! Added to that, can make the perfect topic for a finely laid poem!
