Love has many levels

Love has many levels

A Poem by Soren

Inside walls of hate, bottomless waters of love

distress calls echo in silence, pushed in by a secret fel

a broken chain, rock sidings, no bucket above

the kiss of hell leaves rusted ripples on the surface of the well

a light once kindled, leads from far away

the rope strands frayed, decayed, hope lingers

vomiting emotions of a drowning day

clouds slip through my fingers

moldering memories their smell overpowering

awakens me from blissful sleeps

in this moss green hole, shadows souring

as down this hole, light seeps

An aqueous phoenix evaporating toward the sky

an ark and dove floating on a rainbow's myth

from a water pit planted in dirt's eye

emerging from Jonah's watery grave, the pith

I believe love is always the same. Our unrealistic expectations of others, however; those not only change but are myriad. The name of love is abused, misconstrued and blasphemed casually by those who have no understanding of it. But I believe love is light and life eternal and not just some poor plaything of vain children's imaginings. Shakespeare and I can agree, at least on that point. He wrote in his sonnet 116, " love is not love which alters when it alteration finds" meaning that love does not bend with change. St. Paul took it a step further and wrote, "Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be restrained; where there is knowledge, it will be dismissed." Because he recognized love as eternal perfection. The apostle John put it very simply that, "God is love." How much easier would it be to tell the liars from the faithful if instead of going around saying, "I love you" all the time, we were forced to say, "I feel God in my heart for you"? There goes all the pretense of lust, control, desire, manipulation, seduction, obsession and possession right into the liar's bin. But it's always interesting to read the views that others have of love to wonder how they came about their determinations, was it something learned or something taught or something experienced or a combination or something else. This much I do know, whatever a person prays to is most likely that which they endeavor to become. If we believe that God is light and right and good and faithful we will mimic to the best of our ability those traits. But if the darkness in us has become our light then how great is that darkness? Deceptions abound and every person lies. Nobody can be trusted. We all should at least know that much is true. But I believe love can be trusted and it's in that trust I put my faith. I believe love is the only good there is and any good in us is actually love living in us and through us. But as I noted before, opinions will vary.

Those one the ones that in my mind stood out. I hate to think of a Phoenix evaporating for they always rise again but not if they are extinguished.

Thanks so much Thomas appreciate the review and comment
There are so many natural disasters that cause so much damage to our earth as there are so many
disasters in relationships that cause them to become tragedies of love.
Quakes of dispute...bottomless waters of love could refer to all the tears shed...creating floods that drown us in our own passions.
nicely done,
j.
