Against all we want to believe

A poem like an embryo begins in the mind,

more than often conceived in the blind.

Created and born of a kind.

Its nature set and defined.

It is formed with love and birthed in pain.

Predetermined when born, its destiny to maintain.

Whether great or less its genes do contain

the course of it's future campaign.

After birth, its appropriateness may be adjusted,

but its character can be trusted

to uplift or leave those that see it disgusted,

no matter how many times it is dusted

Terrific rhyme scheme held together with perfect metaphor.

Thanks Jacob coming from you that means a lot. This one came up after reviewing automated ratings and critique on a poem on another site. After making several changes in words and rhyme it came back with the same rating as have others in the past making me think that grooming a poem after it is set does little to its original value.
