Poison's antidote

Poison's antidote

A Poem by Soren

I awoke poisoned from a dream of the night

as the breeze of life blew out of the unknown

Blinds opened to infant light,

as lies, disguised as truth, were grown

In the shadows, countless specter moons

ride on icy, broken hart steeds

Here trampled hinds, fell in swoons,

into bleeding lagoons of ignorant weeds

Time, a magician's illusion,

until the stench of rotting flesh does tell

of a child's lemon drop delusion,

where death's the only antidote for life's aging spell

Author's Note

Soren
Hart a red deer
Hind (Old English) a female red deer
The deer symbolizes many things: the hunt, good luck, a magical disguise, unattainable wildness that can not be subjugated even in death, spirtual authority, piety, devotion, God taking care of his children

Something quite sinister about this, though the message that is woven is one all should heed or at least understand because it is a truth...death is the only cure for old age. Though, through poetry, hopefully many of us will live on forever. Nice one Soren.

Thanks Will yea have to balance the bright with the sinister. Appreciate the read.
Such a dark poem yet full of reminders that need be noticed - if not voluntarily but by thought
Such a dream, such fear and awareness is surely owed a week of light
