Politically correct

Political correctness a term that makes me squirm

It's simply a social way of teaching today

manners that were not taught or maybe forgot

Legislation for an ignorant population

The overly sensitive are so defensive

and it's a shame to blame a word that's absurd

When we censor speech freedom we impeach

When mannors we don't train society as parents will remain

I couldn't agree more...so much silliness in our world today over the use of words. Words are not a living, breathing thing. They are something said or written and can be interpreted many different ways. It is frustrating to hear some tell us how we should talk.

I'm a free-speech absolutist myself, though I do believe that care should be taken with the injustices of history, of which their are many. Fantastic rhyme scheme, great little piece.

I like the term politically incorrect better than the former..what is politically correct anyway? and who made these rules? are these social values kwe are being taught? What to say and what not to say....seems to be on the verge of cutting into free speech....let's face it, the word is absurd....

Thanks Betty what can't be said on TV, movies, poems or even on the street. I understand being sensitive to others but it often seems some people are over sensitive and you are right cuts into free speech.
