A work that could have spared a battered child

that would cool hatred's burning coal

keep a people from being reviled

A writing that might have saved a soul

Buried in dust, an overlooked discarded verse

An unrecognized poet, and a lost word

and for this the world is far the worse

The greatest poem, was never heard

Yes ,when I hear that Rex Mundi the new found Da Vinci sold for 400 million I wonder how many children could that have saved?
But then again how much beauty has been lost to the world and how many souls could that have saved? When a book is burned. If they listened to the poet perhaps children would not have to be saved.

How abjectly sad it is when a worthy page is burnt, an outstanding piece of literature is destroyed. Your very thinking piem reminded me of the burning of the Library of Alexandria. I weep for all the priceless learning lost to ashes. This was a delightfully new topic and I loved it, dear Soren.

So profound, and also probably true. The tragedy of a poem that was never heard. Only two simple stanzas can hold such a great tragedy.
Each word in this poem is perfect.
