A Parting Wish

A Parting Wish

A Poem by Soren

I envy the breeze that caresses your face

kissing your neck and skin

I'm jealous of the sun, that encircles you in a warm embrace,

bathing your body with a smile of light, where I would've liked to have been

I covet your shadow as you hug it so tightly

wrapped around you, an intercourse with no sin

Oh that I were the evening air that you breath nightly

through the darkness, touching you so tenderly within

I wish that I could be your most intimate thought

stripped naked to reveal the beauty of all that you are

Wet from the rain of tears when we parted

I always believed that you would return from afar

To staunch the hemorrhaging caused by your absence

I longingly yearn to be the sands of time

blown back by that breeze, to before I first saw you

prior to ever dreaming that you might be mine

Thank you Chris for your most kind words of encouragement.
There was a woman in my life, I loved her exactly with your words in this perfect poem. I remember I used to talk to her before my sleep in my fantasies.. I would tell her "I envy the pillow you put your face on, for it can touch your beautiful face but I can't...".
Bravo Soren,well done. I hope you reach your beloved,alas I couldn't.

Thank you Jacob for the review it is deeply appreciated.
If there is a better July-written poem about the intensity of love. than yours, Soren. I would be surprised. Your words set fire to thought.. and, methinks. their embers will smoke and spark for quite a while.

'Oh that I were the evening air that you breath nightly
through the darkness, touching you so tenderly within.. '

Wow, love poetry at its finest. Smooth, very smooth and touching my friend. This one will have her melting in your arms, no matter how cool the breeze is. Beautiful, I am impressed.

This expression is rich in a beautiful, wistful longing. Although the writer speaks of certain feelings of envy, I did not perceive any contamination, only melancholy in this ingenuous presentation of loving desire. 'An intercourse with no sin', marvelous, truly says a lot.
Best wishes
