Over

Over

A Poem by Soren

When you can't go home, banished and rejected

Where ever you roam, ignored and neglected

When you're all alone with no place to go

When you're on your own with nothing to show

When the only one that has your back is your front

And when done, you're told what you lack, and to punt

You're stronger than they think, the war you've already won

In no longer than a wink, this poor life will be done

Take heart and lift up your eyes

This is only the start, shout your battle cries

Author's Note

Soren
Punt is a term used in American football when you have used up all your options and have to return the ball to the other side on the next down. Then you instead of taking the last chance to advance the ball you kick it to the other side. It shows a lack of self confidence that you can advance.

Thank you very much for your review and most encouraging remarks.
A heartfelt poem Soren, when just about everything is going in reverse. “The only thing you have is your front”…., your life is on the edge…no path to follow…you must punt….meaning do the best you can to win..to move forward to lift your spirits, find a path that fits your needs…. Well written and very meaningful.

my pleasure, and you're welcome!!!

Such a use of words and language. Some vague time ago I had heard the word punt. Over here it is a shallow decked boat much favoured along the River Cam at Cambridge but that is by the by.
I love the use of Americansims here. Especially the only thing that has your back is your front. Excellent piece.

Thanks Ken I appreciate your review and most kind words.
What did Rocky tell his son...it isn't how hard you fall, it is how strong you are to get up again.
So, just when they think they have us licked, we show enough resolve to keep going...only one life here on earth, we have to make the most of it.

Thanks Jacob I so appreciate the review and comments.
Two fists filled with throat....
Passionate,loneliest cry for
more..more of something
besides surrendering...

Gutsy words.
Best spoken outloud.
