Departed

Departed

A Poem by Soren

I have talked to the dead

Carried by spirits of the past,

they have wrapped me in a blanket,

with the warmth of understanding,

to see beyond my own eyes that blind me

I have entered the world of the departed

mourning memories of my old love, now slain

and have returned to where I had started

longing for Eurydice, to raise again

But if I could rewrite this childhood story

I would not trade memories for a happy ending

I would live in past moments of glory

before her heart and mind left me

Memories are all important. As we age and lose more close friends and family, they are treasure. I wouldn’t trade my memories in for anything. Not even the unpleasant ones.

Classic almost metaphysical poetry that brings the reader along with its flow and its thoughts.

Thank you Ken for the review and most kind words.
This makes me remember all of the friends and family I have lost and appreciate the time I did have with them...knowing I will shuffle off this mortal coil in not too many years...hoping some may have a memory or two of me that they hold special.
I wouldn't trade the memories, either.
