![]() Love's DialecticA Poem by SorenOh love, where is your tenderness, your kind caress? My faithless one, are you numb to my soothing touch? Where's your sweet embrace, understanding and gentleness? Although you think I've abandoned you, don't feel such
Where is the passion that burned so bright Pyrite, love's sister, sparkles in the sun But it didn't last, only ashes after the night Much that glitters is fool's gold dear one
Why do I feel your sting? Does not a rose have a thorn? Why such pain does your absence bring? I am always with you, don't feel forlorn
Is the glass that I'm looking through distorted? You need a mirror your best interest to see Fetus of fondness in my mind, aborted Nurture it, through its prematurity
Why tears, when gifts were meant for another? Beware! Excreted feelings of entitlement sprout weeds Does love in its infinate wisdom need me to suffer? Cold is required for germination of its seeds
Do all things need pain, to feel joy? Is not harshness, masked tenderness in disguise? This old shell do I have to destroy? That's how new life sprouts, under spring skies
Beyond the horizon I lose all visibility Myopic is mortal vision I fear immortality and eternity Banish all fear with decision
I dread rejection by others Wish only to be what you are a part of Can't I depend on love of friends, brothers, or mothers? Before it comes from another, your own self you must love
