Dualities

Dualities

A Poem by Soren

We say that dumb beasts don't feel the cold

That children don't care for the old

But it is us, in our ignorance, that think they don't suffer

Or that the young don't care for another

There's a barrier that keeps us from what others feel

So we believe only what, we perceive as real

I stood outside the other day watching some cardinals play in the trees and wondered f they felt the cold like I do. And for children, I believe they care for everyone until the time when they grow up into a world that doesn't. I believe both scenarios and many more have to do with how a person is brought up. Thinking that, what we perceive is real depends on how we are taught to perceive things. Nicely said Soren.

Here here! Wil. Thanks for the review and perceptive comment.
Such a clever write Soren. We do not pay nearly enough attention either to the feelings of animals or to the understanding of young children. Both are full of surprises. I enjoyed this piece very much. Thank you.

You nailed it, Soren, especially your last line.
