Jigsaw

Jigsaw

A Poem by Soren

Have you ever had a puzzle where the pieces didn't fit

An enigma that left the mind unable to cease or quit

Did some have the wrong picture others the wrong shape

Were others too big, did some from the box escape

Did you ever try to force them into places where they would bind

Did you have to look outside the box for pieces you couldn't find

Was what you completed laughed at, not being understood

When you finished were you told, what you did, any child could

You know, that is exactly how I picture my younger years, completely misunderstood. I put puzzles together metaphorically speaking and after a lot of work was basically told, "Big deal". I was always made to feel inferior to others and second best by my father. But just like the Johnny Cash song, "A boy named Sue" it made me stringer and more determined to prove my worth, which I believe I have and if I haven't, I don't really care much anymore. I guess this poem could only be about a puzzle, but I read so much more into it. Nicely done my friend.

We make such a big deal of doing something ever so often. Yet even children could do it. Jigsaw puzzles can teach us so much about themselves. This poem is original, creative and unique in its content and thought and I appreciate it so much!

Oh yes my friend. a piece of the puzzle is often missing and I am constantly searching for it. That has been the story of my life. Now once I bought a 1000 piece puzzle in the charity shop, determined to go on an adventure. Thirty pieces later I was too weary to continue. A very relatable poem.
