Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

A Poem by Soren

Death sits next to me, she whispers in my ear

As wide as the river Styx, as deep as fear

The unknown has a haunting voice

That brings involuntary quakes

Clotho spins the tread of life

Atropos the tread breaks

It's not by coins we pay our way

When Charon has come

But face Proteus and a new day

Our journey has just begun

Thought-provoking, Soren, and hauntingly well-written.
Yes, Death is Life's Great Mystery, but I wonder Why? We have no concrete evidence of an afterlife, only the hope of one, hardly a reason for mystery. ...that's my 2-cents worth :)

Yes, I keep forgetting, we are but spinning particles :)
I know my children won't do. But I want coins on my eyes and be burn the old Native Americans did. Just create a place for my body. Let my spirit be freed by fire. The Ojibwa believe. Death is on your left shoulder waiting and whispering to you. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. Made me think today.

You are welcome my friend.

I loved the line above!

Your poem was special to me as the darkness ends with a ray of hope that maybe there is a brand new day after the hopeless seeming end. I kind of believe in reincarnation and fancy being born again after dying. I can always feel things in my bones. I know I've lived before and that the journey of the soul is endless. I enjoyed looking up the references to the Gods. Thanks for this beautiful share.

Oh yes, peacefully while sleeping. That will do nicely :)
Very cool and very deep. I wrote a poem once with the same title but it was anything like this or near as good. This gave me chills.
