My Dark Side

I saw my shadow today

And it filled my soul with fear

It was just like me in every way

Except what I hold dear

How I wished it would go away

But it lingers oh so near

Under the bright sun’s ray

And the moon so clear

It’s darkness will ever stay

Until I’m no longer here

i like this! i think the acceptance and inevitable end to our worldly lives is .. well .. kind of beautiful .. strong work with the shadow metaphor .. powerful statement says i! .. for me the ababab rhyming works .. glad i stopped Soren .. wishing you well

Though we don't like to admit it, we all have a shadow side, those parts of us that make us uneasy. Still, it's there, and our best course is to acknowledge and accept it, so it doesn't surprise us with an unexpected visit.
