~Moon Kissed

~Moon Kissed

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

His touch freed me from my fears

"
The darkling's melody pierces my ear,
Haunting memories come back with chilly air.

Breezing past my scarred cheeks,
Tall shadows loom before me,so thick.

Pulling the veil across my dim eyes
I walk on the withered leaves
Of the trodden past, with a sigh!

Dropping the determined lamp
On the yellow pile....
I watch as the punishing flame
Feeds each,in its fiery grip...
Joyless laughters,agonized tears,
Every piece dissolves away....
It dries up in the pool of my fears.

What stares back at me are just
Bits of ashes winding o'er
The dormant fire of love's lyre.

Unmasking my blemish
I feel the moon beams
Flood my aching body
I feel soft lips on my scar.
Never again will i go this far.....
Never..................Again..........
This.....................Far...............

Ok so what I'm getting is the subject has memories of the past, and because of the hurt and pain they been through has made the decision to not feel that way again, even if it means sacrificing their own personal happiness? Had to read it twice I got lost midway. I love it but it also feels slightly overpowered to me.

how come I missed it..it seems u just dont want to get out of your love for the night..every time u rediscover it in a new manner...u walk into the night scared but as the night goes darker you seem to make this darkness your prey..i would love to go far again...enjoyed reading it..:)

i often said this...will never go this far again...but i relented on that promise, and found myself getting more scars...maybe i embrace the pain...maybe poets just can't help themselves, we are vulnerable aren't we?

The moon as a healer. The past can come back to haunt us and while it is part of who we are, it can not and should not determine the future. Very emotive words....and again, the personification you employ is enchanting. Lydi**

"I walk on the withered leaves /Of the trodden past..." is such a powerful line, Sophy, in a piece with many such gems. The image just keeps running through my mind! Then we have the burning and cleansing of the psyche after the end of an unfortunate relationship which is often one of the most difficult trials we ever face and necessary if we are to enjoy the soft lips on our newly bandaged scars. It is hoped that the new love can conquer the old and be enjoyed freely where ever it takes us even if we initially want to limit the pain. I am hoping that in the end she can be "moon kissed" and bathed in all manner of loves light even to the point of daring to walk in the sun and not be afraid. Beautiful words so well crafted... I love it!
