~Flickering lamp

~Flickering lamp

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

A lone man's tale

"
Shadows outlining the flickering
Lamp post.
Obscuring the sagging shoulders,
Lost to,
Gravity of empty bellies.
Misplaced lots,
Unplanned drains...

Outsmarting destiny
With broken brows,
And grinning faces.

Magnified vision of
Excelling rays...
Engulfed by the
Dark milky waves..

Darkness eats it whole
Darkness eats it whole
Lost am I!!
Just playing the role
Just playing the role

Sophy Freebirds
I was on my way back home when i saw a vendor who was trying hard to sell his goods.I just placed myself in his place. How he fights to keep his family from dying.Respect to all human beings who don't give up in the worst scenarios.Cheers to survivors. Hope you enjoy. :) xx

Sophy, you continually pen little brilliant combinations of words that make me smile! "...sagging shoulders,/
Lost to,/Gravity of empty bellies... just speaks to the situation. The weight of the world is on the shoulders of this person and it must surely be the grave thoughts of his children's likely empty bellies that keeps him pressing on. He may be just playing a role, but it is a noble one. As always, your words sing! I thoroughly enjoyed this one despite its necessary gravitas... great work my friend!

its like life kept on the edge of starvation ..just enough to live ...barely enough to survive .. easy to quit .. i join you this morning in celebration of all those brave souls who do not quit .. day after day...one foot then another .. providing with honesty and dignity of self unshakable ... how faith plays such an important role for the poor and downtrodden ... worth so much in the end .. well said Sophy! sad melancholy yet a tribute all the same.

I liked this. It accurately described the feeling of distress/desperation, and I thought it was really interesting to read. :)

Thank you so much Mai :)
i see this man trying to survive the darkness---what i see is a homeless man on the streets living in and out of the shadows, trying to make it...and he is playing his role in life.

nicely done, Sophy.
