~Extinguish me

~Extinguish me

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

Smothered before the flame ignites...

"
Tiny slits of eye open in void,
Retarded limbs float in fluid.
Unheard beat haunts
The masked sunshine.....

Melted clothes to cover
Her mocked nudity.
Tears echo,blending with
Buried innocence....
Longing fingers reach out,
To be led into World
Full of shrouded prudence....

Intake stalled,cut the cord..
Arms mauled,chop me off!!
Unsung cry,fills brooding sky.
Ohhh!! Traditions so high!

Smothered before birth.
Extinguish me....
Before my fire scorches,
Your prejudiced earth!

Rays dimmed...
Ashes fly...
Over the extinguished fire!!

A poem of hopeless collisions between tradition and freedom. I am always amazed when I read of the plight of women in your and other countries.

Very strong emotions and striking use of words which picture this world and rip it off from its ohh so wounderful self. Great penning

This is really well executed, Sophy. An important topic that certainly deserves attention, and you certainly got mine. From beginning to end you manage to conjure graphic images of violence, vile deeds! Yet despite my nausea and disgust, I am impressed with your ability to express these violent deeds with such elegance. Very melancholic piece!

thank you for your kind words :)
Sophy... My daughter is my precious jewel... I have never understood the preoccupation of many cultures (not just your own) with raising boy children above the girl children... to the point where female circumcision, kidnapping from young girls from schools to be sold as wives, and yes, even genocide are allowed, even condoned! I applaud your righteous wrath and your beautiful words about so horrible a subject. Thank you for speaking for the dead!
