Glossy to Dusty~

Glossy to Dusty~

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

No prologue to this tragic poem....

"
Eyes travel to the glossy cover....
My hands itch to have you...
Turning it over my sweaty palms....
Tempting words dance in my view.

How i wish to tug it, to my heart!!
How i wish to own it,Every inch!!

Dancing to Illusion's tune..
I fly and fall and frown....

Austen's regency turns to King's horror...!!
I scream! As i see my reflection in mirror..

With every chapter i painted
Myself in a new role......
Each stroke digging
A new deep hole!!
Fantasizing about being your perfect mate,
I drown in my own doomed fate!

No epilogue to this tragic play!
Escape!! Obh escape....
From this demonic sway...
Shut the cringy book!
Slam to gnawing reality.....
Its here....... Its here.....
Here fades my ecstacy

Sophy... the pain we feel at the inevitable, all consuming, death of a book, or story, or poem is heightened when we have invested ourselves in the characters and roles... as you say, we "paint ourselves into the story..." your words here have made that an easy task... and an enjoyable one. Great job!

flickering desires are afraid of winds,
sickening wants are burnt by time.
Sit, watch the time drag you in his glossiness
then, words will haunt your unconsciousness.

Reading and writing is an art.Louis L'Amour was one of my favorite novelist. He wrote to where you placed yourself right in the story and you placed the reader inside your poem very nice

I was actively intrigued from the beginning to end of this poem. Its a wonderful feeling getting lost in book or other material one is reading, but unfortunately the end comes eventually and reality finds us once more. Ive got feels reading this. Nicee
