~Aprés Breath

~Aprés Breath

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

Where obscure shadows travel

"
Soul floating in the uncertain mist,
Inviting fading margin of death....
There... evaporates the lively zest,
Condensing clouds of my finite breath...

Piercing through the orange hue,
I am taken through and through...
Blue light blinds my unseen eyes...
My soul breaks all the morbid ties...

The fear of losing deceptive prosperity;
Stinking Hypocrisy of the sinful divinity...
Unquenchable thirst for pleasures;
Ever burning sense of rancour...

All ebbs away.....
All ebbs away.....
No retributing hell!
No heaven to dwell!!
Just......Distant tolling of bells.....
Where obscure shadows travel...

Very deep. It seems you have written in this poem certian breaking away of earthly ties and then having a journey towards Heaven or Hell. But it is kind of left in limbo, like purgatory. The spiritual realm is something that we no not much about, except for what has been illustrated in God's Word and from other attempts from mindkind throughout the generations to describe something beyond the now. We will all find out for sure when it happens. But very thought provoking. I appreciate you sharing this.

Delighted you enjoyed it Zachary :) thank you
Beautiful poem :) i had written a story poem once about a guy at war who smokes his last cigarette with death..i feel weirdly nostalgic after reading this
I love the descriptiveness of the first paragraph :) Condensing clouds of my finite breaths :D lovely
The distant bells tolling reminds me of the book 'The Subtle Knife', writer has described a dimension where people go after dying..kinda matches to the feel of the poem :)

Thank you Sunya.. would really like to check that out :)
Sweet inspiration beckons to the poet and we take a deep breath and pen our heart's desire and fears.

'sinful divinity'....I'm in love with that! :)

I shelved this in my library straight away Sophy, line by line it is one of the most beautiful poems I have read, I am stunned by you writing and the sadness of this parting away from life to uncertain death, brilliant.

Glad you could get to its depth Richard :) its quite good that it is shelved
there is an uncertainty to death isn't there...is there something after this life?

or do we just die and that's it...back to dust, end of story...we would like to think there is more, hope there is more...but it is a good question...and this poem made me ponder and pose the theories to myself, once again.

Glad i could evoke thoughts :) thank you jacob
A struggle between good and evil? There is a wonderful wisdom in your words, Sophy. Are we are drawn to evil because we are human? Can we ignore it or is the lure so strong we walk willingly to the dark side? There is an intellectual depth here.....I will read this one again. No surprise Eli brainstormed with you about the topic! :) Lydi**
