~Hunting down Woes....

~Hunting down Woes....

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

"Kill it inside you or else it will eat you up"

"
You have come to possess me???
I will drive you out like Alexander
Making you beg for surrender....

Encroaching my optimistic senses...
Pulling me down to gloomy ashes...
Eating my soul like malignant cancer!!
You think you can be the ultimate victor??

I will hunt you down with
Veracious Artemis's bows...
Capturing lethal cerberus
By resolute will of my own..
Imprisoning you in the
Tartarus of my faultless bones..

I will go against the corrupt wind..
Fighting the rotten leaves...
I will fly with Icarus wings.
You can never pull me down..
With chains made of envious strings..

I just want to say, this is such a profound piece of writing. Your use of Mythological Characters are extraordinary and right on point.

It is kind of left open to interpretation as to what is trying to pull you down. The first thought for me would be despondency. I often, especially towards night fall, become despondent and need a poem such as this to motivate me to overcome my downed spirit.

Thinking more on it, I can see Satan or his demons as the one that is pulling me down. I believe that Demons possess the ability to enter thoughts into the minds of Christians, but do not believe that they can possess a Christian. But they will do everything they can to pull you down with their envious chains because they know that we are children of God, and for that they are envious. They do not want to see us marching with God and proclaiming was has set us free.

As far as the Mythology. Again Wow!!! You did not in anyway stray from the common theme. Eve Alexander the Great fits nicely.

encroaching my optimistic senses...
Pulling me down to gloomy ashes...
Eating my soul like malignant cancer!!
You think you can be the ultimate victor??

This hits home. I am a very optimistic person, but when negative thoughts come crashing in to possess my soul, it's easy to allow them to consume you, and like you stated, eat you up like cancer. We have to have counteract those thoughts and feelings with those of hope. We have to take a stand against it and fight!!!!

I will hunt you down with
Veracious Artemis's bows...

The hunter virgin goddess of the hunt

Capturing lethal cerberus
By resolute will of my own..

This gives me the image of the three headed monster, Satan's dog which could be "Legion" his demons. To overcome them, we must use God's Words.

Imprisoning you in the
Tartarus of my faultless bones..

Even this was the abyss in Greek Mythology, but very interesting that you use this to represent the fact that whenever you are being brought down, you can fight back because you are guiltless (innocent). You know there is no reason that you should be brought down and have every right to fight back.

I will fly with Icarus wings.
You can never pull me down..
With chains made of envious strings..

And finally, Icarus wings. In Greek Mythology, he escaped from Crete - island of despondency - by his wings. Something I would like to add that was very interesting. There was a warning that he should not fly to low or to high because either way he would not survive. If he flew to low, the sea's dampness would clog his wings and if he flew to high the sun would burn his wings. We have to keep an balance between the high and the low, that we may not have a great fall, or become drown in our depression.

I really wanted to take time to review this one because you have not idea how much of an impact this has had on me. I was feeling really down tonight and this really turned everything around. I will learn to recite this poem so that I can attack my despondency when it sets in. Thanks Friend. Truly a master piece for me

Yoo.. :) thank you so much Richard. I ain't gonns hunt you down :p
Silly proud Icarus and his wax wings. He thought himself a god, but really he was a clown.

I love this Greek kick you are on dear, it is incredibly endearing. The message in this poem is great too. No one will bring you down, and if they try they will just as soon feel your wrath. Don't cross this woman, for she is strong!
