Sometimes the Heart Betrays the Mind

Sometimes the Heart Betrays the Mind

A Poem by Petrichor

Speaking is never easy when it's with someone you think you could love.
His lopsided smile never ceased to amaze me and those eyes.
It's like staring into a beautiful, never ending maze.
I could never find an exact point to land on so I let my gaze wander about.
I saw him tonight.
I thought I was done dreaming about a life I couldn't have with him.
I was wrong.
I was so, so, stupidly wrong.
Wiping away the hot tears streaming down my face I try to understand why.
Why am I crying?
Why do I love him so?
Why did I choose the boy that I would never see?
Sometimes the heart betrays the mind and it's what the soul wanted.
