Unit 221

Unit 221

A Story by Sophie
"

A sneak peak of a new story that I'm writing on. I'm not sure what this will turn into, probably a zombie/future thing, but I'm not sure. Ideas would be greatly appriciated!

I’m not sure why, but suddenly I reached out and touched his brown wavy hair. It felt smooth between my fingers and as if it had been recently washed. I knew better, I knew it hadn’t. I quickly pulled my hand away from him, knowing that if he woke up he could tear my whole arm off in a blink of an eye. I froze there for a second, looking at his thin body lying on that small piece of metal and white textile that was supposed to be a bed. He looked cold as he lay there, without a blanket or anything to cover him up. For a moment I felt sorry for him. Wished that he wouldn’t have been one of them, one of the monsters. Maybe he hadn’t always been like that. Most of them hadn’t been born that way, they had been normal once too. Until one day when they just weren’t human any more. At least that’s what the Unit 221 told me when I got assigned to this job.

When I looked up I realized that my new superior, a woman in her late 30’s was watching me with her intense brown eyes. I had probably made a fool of myself again.
