SeclusionA Chapter by ♢Sophia♢Second Chapter of The Masked Man
I awoke to darkness. Some sort of blindfold was put over my eyes. My hands and legs were tied to what I'm guessing is a chair. I groan, my head pounding from where the masked man had hit me. It smells damp and the room I'm in is eerily quiet. I try to move my arms, only succeeding in making the rope dig into my wrists. Moving my legs only achieved touching the floor.
Maybe if I rock my weight around the chair, it will move. I start to put all my weight on the left side, then right. Left, then right. Repeat. The floor creaks under my shifting weight, the chair moving ever so slightly to the right. Great. That's progress. Footsteps are heard from above me. They sound like their coming downstairs. The masked man. In my frantic panic, I lean too much to the left. The chair hits the floor with a loud thud, my body vibrating with the impact. "You really don't know how to stay put." A voice comes from above. I don't give him the satisfaction of answering. He grabs the back of the chair and pulls me up. The blindfold was roughly taken off of my face, my blond hair being yanked in the process. The masked man was in front of me, his white mask gleaming. The noose looked like it was painted again, giving it a dark glow. I look around the room. It was mostly empty, the only things present were some worn down furniture and a wall full of weapons. The few windows were covered in dirt and grime but I could make out dark trees looming over each other and creating shadows. "W-where am I?" I ask, my gaze going back to the white mask. The masked man looked as if he was inspecting me. It was hard to tell since the small slits in the mask didn't let me see his eyes from afar. "Lets just say your far from the town. No one will find you unless they have a tracker on you. Now stay quiet." He walks away and sits on one of the couches. He grabs an ax from the wall and begins to sharpen it with something from his pocket. Far from town? The town I lived in wasn't very urban. There were some buildings, but they would be spread out by long plains of grasslands. Surrounding the western part of town was a large forest we called the Seclusion Forest. Seclusion Forest was large, and most people didn't live near it because of the wild animals that inhabit the forest. No one is going to find me. The thought hit me harder than when the masked man had knocked me unconscious. "What are you going to do to me?" The question bursts out of me before I can think better of it. The masked man stops sharpening his ax for a second. He looks up at me and sighs, standing up. "You really don't know how to keep quiet." He grabs the top of my chair and starts to haul me to the other side of the room. The ropes on my wrist pull hard. I'm pretty sure they'll start to bleed. The masked man drags me up a flight of stairs, my body bobbing up and down. "Hey, what the hell!" I yell as he throws open a door at the end of a corridor and throws me in. I land sideways on the chair, my hair splayed over my face. The masked man leans down to cut my binds, then leaves the room without a word. I lunge for the door, desperate, but he had already locked it. I scream and kick at the door, throwing all my weight into it. I turn and look at the room. The green wallpaper is green and peeling. The bed looks like it'll cave in with the slightest amount of weight and the bathroom is filled with cockroaches. "Damn it" I murmur, falling onto the bed with a loud creak. I curl into a ball, wondering if anyone noticed I was missing. Would my friends notice I wasn't at school? Would my father call a search party? The thought of my family and friends make me homesick. Tears start to pool in my eyes and trail down my cheek. I have to find a way to escape.
