My Infatuation

My Infatuation

A Poem by Alice from Wonderland
"

I wrote this for a middle school writing assignment. And my teacher liked it!

"

It tells me its secrets, and I tell it mine. When it calls my name I can’t help but answer for I know my addiction cannot be satisfied. The characters stepped inside my very soul and began telling me the story itself. It lures me in like a bowl full of candy. Book after book, they tell me more and more about me and the world we live in. I finally understand others, when the words of the author speak to me. The emotions traveling fast, pulsing through my veins. The mysteries ponder deep inside as I anticipate the end. Each one paints beautiful pictures in my mind like an artist with a canvas. No matter what I can’t seem to put it down. My hands are glued. Page by page I get even more sucked in. I dream about the climax, if I sleep at all. Words seem to be rushing around my senses and I can feel the tingling in my soul. As my imagination brags about the exciting adventure it took, my heart races with the excitement of every word and I hang on them, because my life depends on it.
