Echoes

Echoes

A Poem by Thus Said Broken

I knew I could find you here,

watching the waves roll in and out.

Seeing how they change with each passing second

but always seem to stay the same.

Comparing its fathomless depths

to the endless sorrow that fills your soul.

Wondering why -

why you come back to this place

even though it reminds you of our time together.

But that is the very reason you return,

to remember.

To remember our lives as they once were

and always will be,

constantly changing yet always remaining the same.

Yes, I knew I could find you here,

because this is where I often find myself.

In creative writing, I'm always told that every word is important and not to have a word in there that's a hostage. In this poem, I felt as if every word was perfect. It fit the poem and was woven nicely together somehow creating a great image. I enjoyed reading the poem.
