Hip-Hop Poetry

A Poem by Theo Rojas
"

The Real Hip-Hop MC

"
when we write, we don't write using our own dialect
its not because we're ashamed of it, but because we're trying to connect
it doesn't mean we're not reppin our city, doesn't mean we want it dead
it just means that we're trying to engrave our city to foreign peoples head

cuz we're reppin our city from its skies to its sands
that's what you people can never.. ever.. understand
you write for our city only for our people to comprehend
while we write for our country and for others to know that our culture can expand.

and if you ask me who started it here?, i say our poet natives from the past
and it passed from generation to generation and we are the ones who grasped it
cuz we are not only writing songs not only writing raps of the same kind
we poets write masterpieces that can uplift foolish people's mind

and that's what separates us few, from most
we know who are the real ones and we know who are foes
yes the culture grows but a lot of ya'll dont even know who started it
you say its pac, snoop, biggie ?no , now you start to open google and search for it.
