The art of incompletion...

There’s beauty in being broken.

Because it is only by realizing something is missing,

does it make what’s left meaningful.

There’s regret in words unspoken.

Because it is through the echoing silence,

do you hear the answers that could have been.

There’s pain in memories forgotten.

Because it is in lingering absence,

that your heart aches to touch the unknown.

There’s peace in forgiveness.

It’s only after letting go,

do you feel the unbound lightness where resentment should have been.

There’s revenge in moving on.

Because it is through your walking away,

that they get to see all that you were.

There is bravery in making mistakes.

Because even loving wrong,

is better than the emptiness of not loving at all.

But...

There is no grace in falling apart,

Just like there is no power in breaking hearts.

Because as much as the falling tears wash away the pain,

the broken pieces will leave you void and vain.

To be honest, I didn't start out loving this. It felt a little bit cliche at first . . . especially becuz you start with the "standard" explanation of why it's necessary to have darkness to appreciate light. But as you go along, your arguments become more uniquely stated, so that you're presenting universal, relatable ideas, but doing it in a way that is fresh & unexpected. V5 is where your poem really catches fire becuz you have the courage to go WAY beyond the typical s**t said often about this topic . . . at this point in your poem you reach deeply into that part in each of us that feels vengeful . . . the part not so pretty . . . but very human & real. I understand a poem starting out with the recognizable points, but I love it when a poet quickly gets beyond the simple premise of a point being made & then digs down for details that really SHOW instead of tell (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
