the man in the mirror

the man in the mirror

A Poem by sonnie ibadah
"

it's a fantacy of a dreamer to see faith in humanity restored but it's the goal of a realist to see the world for what it really is...the lost kingdom.

"
They say change begins with one man...the man in the mirror.
But how can he make a change if he can not even recognize himself?
If he cares, but nobody else does,
If he is fair, but everybody else is bias,
and if he shares, but everyone else is proud,
then how can he change the world?

The struggle for humanity is overated,
but the world is still the same.
When we reach a point of no return,
then who will take the blame?

I woke up this morning with the thought of changing the world.
Not realizing that already the world had long since changed me!
I did the right thing when none was looking,
but my self-admiration got the best of me.
I tried to be quite forgiving,
but my memory ended up holding grudges.
I tried hard to understand others,
but ended up confusing myself.
I spent many hours trying to preach humanity,
not knowing i was proving my insanity.
The world only proved me wrong,
that I could not beat it...and that i had long since joined it!

It's safe to say that the struggles are necessary,
but eventually meaningless!

mmm, sounds much like myself Very hard roads we types travel, so it seems we keep running into our own-selves in the end - the man in the mirror looking back. Nice read though, i definitely felt what you wrote.

thanks Matt :)
A hard question in the words.
"The world only proved me wrong,
that I could not beat it and that i had long joined it!
It's safe to say that the struggles are necessary but eventually meaningless!
I like the Native American logic. "Put your hands into the stream and create a movement of hope. The stream can leave to free river to open sea. Create a hurricane of hope." Martin Luther King Jr. was a hurricane. We need men and women like him. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

my pleasure
I love that quote. I tend to be a realist. I find that optimists have a further way to fall...but I still tend to get lost in my fiction being a prose writer. Anyway, thanks for sharing this wonderful write!
