Save the last Dance

Save the last Dance

A Poem by sonnie ibadah

As the sun hides behind the clouds
waiting for the moon,
I'll wait among the crowd
in the big ballroom.
As the stars twinkle
dancing with the sky,
I'll stand single,
my heart dancing with anxiety.
As I save the last dance for you.

In the midst of the room,
my glittery eyes will shine
withdrawn from other people’s laughter,
on the middle table I'll dine.
Throwing glances at the door,
I'll wait,
for any minute you’ll show
‘cause I'll save the last dance for you.

Beautiful lads in black suits
will glance at me waiting like a child waiting for Christmas.
I'll ignore their sweet smiles and hands offering me to dance.
Be it an angel from above, offering to dance with him in the skies
I'll not think twice, but decline the fancy
for nothing will stop me,
I'll save the last dance for you.

Even when everybody leaves,
and I remain alone in the dark room,
the light will still shine in my heart.
like a duckling left out in the cold,
without a soul to comfort her,
but yet, I'll not lose faith
for I know you’ll come
I'll sit right there, and wait.
I'll wait.
For I'll save the last dance for you.

The poem is amazing. You need to add the great song with the same title from the sixties. I like the internal thoughts and having great patience in the poem.

This overall is really good, I like the flow and tension it shows between her and the other men around, I also like how it leads down from certain angles and perspectives.
