All I wanted for Christmas was love,
not the fancy Christmas tree that uncle put up
the one with tiny light balls and angels at the top.

All I wanted for Christmas was love,
instead of aunt’s delicious cooking,
and the second helpings.

All I wanted for Christmas was love,
and not that fancy dress that mama bought for me,
nor the pretty red sweater that grandma knitted me.

All I wanted for Christmas was love,
leave alone papa’s gift of a ruby pendant,
which was oh-so pleasant!

All I wanted for Christmas was love,
and not a diamond ring that my darling got me,
with the same words someone else had told me.

All I wanted for Christmas was love,
and not another fake family portrait,
just love….

i think love goes so much deeper than material things. what a heart craves for is not the mere idea of being cared for but just the simple feeling of satisfaction when your feelings are reflected in the eyes of the people you love. i don't want the routined empty automatic actions
