'let me raise you up
till the storm is far
beneath you'
This is a lovely line and 'the worst nights
become daylight
and I'll still be holding
your hand,
holding you up to the sun,
and I know
you'd do the same for
me'
is also very nice.
Again, welcome to the Café. It is nice to have you here, along with your original writings to enjoy … thank you for sharing and for your lovely review of my "Wildflowers", as-well.
I hope you'll stay, attract many fans and followers, and make loads of new friends.
To your poem: Love the bright artwork choice, and the title drew me in. Your storyline, imagery, emotive power, metaphor, smooth-flowing syntax, and line-breaks are spot-on, though, I'm not a fan of no capitals, as it often breaks the spell when having to stop, determine when one thought ends, and another begins.
I think "You and Me" is a deeply-meaningful Free Verse piece, that eloquently and sincerely expresses a beautifully dedicated and unbreakable relationship between soul-sisters, in a most heartfelt way; and, (for me) that you have faith in her feeling the same as you, is the perfect ending. : )
I felt the warmth, love, and caring closeness dancing throughout your words … I wish I had a friend like You, Anni ⁓ Richard 🍃

That is exactly what I was attempting to convey here. I don't generally use all lowercase, but it seemed to work for this particular poem. But I agree it can sometimes make it hard to tell where one thought ends and another begins.

Good morning, Anni, and thanks for your reply.
A lovely day to ya! : )
I read the second line as "lemon laughter" but that might just be me
putting my own slant on things, and "laugher" may have been intended.
this is true friendship, being there for the other in the worst of times...when one's wings are clipped...
when there is truly little laughter...when we are most needed. So many tend to be fair weather friends.
and that is very sad.....
they only want to be around when there is no need to be "raised up"---
nice work, Anni,
j.
