Ancient wisdom, which is necessary for a person of any era to understand.
Works, myths, various epics created in ancient times reflect the current situation, thinking and values of the era. Ancient wisdom must be understood so that we do not lose spiritual harmony, remain empathetic towards other individuals, and thus create a better society. At all times, not adhering to ancient wisdom has had painful consequences. This essay will discuss and reveal the importance of wisdom.
The tragedy "Antigone" by Sophocles, one of the three most famous playwrights of antiquity, reveals that the forces of evil, destroying the order, customs, harmony and balance created by the world, surrender to the truth, which everyone must adhere to and strive for in life. Also to their homeland, friendship, family, which encourages people to unite and achieve a common goal. In this tragedy, the main character Antigone, with love and rebellion against the unjust order and laws, pursued her goal - to prevent evil, although she was required to sacrifice her life for others. Nijole Sadunaite was a dissident who did not agree with the established order, sought independence, although this cost her imprisonment, interrogations and threats. N. Sadunaite was a rebel, as the character of the tragedy "Antigone", brought her into the world with love and brought her out with love, which lived in their hearts until their last breath. These two heroes did not give in to the existing pressure and fought for the sake of others, sought justice and, although it was difficult, did not lose humanity. Both of the above examples prove that wisdom helps not to lose values at all times, promotes unification, and the implementation of the goal. The Odyssey, written by Homer, a famous Greek poet, reveals that the longing for one's homeland and family is inexorable. Odysseus is tested and must complete various challenges set for him and his companions, which seek to break and condemn him. However, Odysseus does not give up and seeks to return to his Ithaca, which is more precious to him than the wealth, success and stunningly beautiful women offered. This story is repeated for the people of our era, when during the Second World War, Jews were exiled, killed, accused because they had a different attitude and faith than others. For the Jews, it was more important than anything else to return to their Ithaca to their loved ones, the trials set should have broken their spirit, body, and mind, but they, like Odysseus, sailed and achieved their goal. In the performance we watched, which took place in the Columbarium of the Tusculenai Manor, entitled "The Word Brought "Freedom" tells the story of the partisans' fight for freedom and homeland during the war. The sacrifices of their lives brought us the freedom we have today and which must be respected, loved and protected, like the previously mentioned Antigone and N. Sadunaite whose rebellion won justice. In summary, in all epochs, the same problems prevailed, which sought to break the harmonious world, but only by adhering to the wisdom that we see in the written works of Antiquity, we can prevent this. It is always necessary to have people who will not sit still, but take action and defeat evil. The trials of life show whether people are able to maintain human values and follow the voice of the heart.
