Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror

A Poem by Victoria W.
"

The way we all battle at some point with our weight and self-acceptance, along with "Wintergirls" by Laurie Halse Anderson inspired me to write this. (TRIGGER WARNING) ***

"
Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
I'll be thin before the fall.
Before my skin with Winter wastes,
I'll trace the bones upon my face.
And with each day I'll hold within,
All my hunger; craving sin.
It's not disease or daily fashion,
I numb myself with all compassion.

To reach my goal of being thin,
I'll starve myself til' Winter's in

You write with a lyrical style that flows well. Too many young girls are influenced by celebrities and magazine covers. If they only knew what counts more is on the inside and how you come across to others.

Though its sad that many people do care a lot more about physicality, this write shows the truth of the extreme measures people go through to achieve a goal.
