The Inner Walk Within

The Inner Walk Within

A Poem by Billie Atterberry
"

An inner walk I took within

"

Translucent as it may

During this time of pain

So much sorrow has broken loose

In this lost and forgotten world

Where is thaw innocence

Left upon this little girl

Tears she weeps for her lost mother

And hidden father as it may

Why must she be life's toy?

To boarder with this pain

A lost soul, I think not

Just a game in this life she lives

Where is the smile she once had?

And happiness she use to give

Shall her journey

Be a darkened path

I think not,

But where's it at

In her heart

So broken and torn

Or in her souls

Filled with life's thorns

Her pillow and her comfort

Are her only treasures deep

Alas where she lay's

As she timidly weeps

Crouching with fear

And an undying love

As she reaches out

To someone above

A light shiver

Upon her spine

It could not

But be her time

Not her time,

To lay eternity

But her time

To be

To be what

A clown for this world

As I am there foolish girl

To be a soul that burns

With fury and pain

Or to be released

From the insane

Tell me now

Or leave me be

Thus have to

Torture me

No more games

She begins to scream

From all this pain

Just let me free

A sudden Burdon

She feels no more

Has thaw above

Unlocked a door

A sudden wave

Of freedom inside her soul

From the anger

Has she let go

And on her journey

She sees the light

It was up to her

This whole time

She’s the one that held the key

To set all her anger free
