Never Look Back

Never Look Back

A Poem by Carlie
"

Wrote about a past relationship.

"

You fell in love with another

One other than me

Our time is now past

But you can’t tell me

You’ll never look back

I’ve wondered what she has

That you couldn’t find in me

Was it the confidence to be different…

The absence of miles to keep you two apart…

Or was it simply love at first sight?

I will never know

It’s probably better that way

Though the ache will never leave

I know one things for sure

I will always hold a piece of your heart

Yes, you may now love another

One other than me

But the history we have had

Made for an unforgettable journey

One that I know you could never forget

For a love like we shared

Doesn’t happen for everyone

It’s rare and uneasy to find just anywhere

For that reason I always will know

That love we shared will stay tucked away

Safe and sound in the corner of our hearts

Now I surrender to her

Looking only to the future

Our time is now past

But you can’t tell me

You’ll never look back

I really like this poem girly. :) I actually feel this way about any relationship. No matter how good or bad they were, you always remember the good things, and especially for a first, they will always hold a piece of your heart, as you hold a piece of theirs :)

I think if you took the actual last line of the poem and put it as the title it may strengthen it. This is a very well done piece. I like how you state things more as matter-of-fact, instead of sounding like you feel bad for yourself. It's more of a thoughtful pondering feeling I get from this. Almost as if the speaker is tired, not fighting, just thinking.

."Our time is now past But you can’t tell me You’ll never look back"

I am reminded of all those girls who loved me until they knew they couldn't keep me. Now I want them back, all of them.
Retrospect, I hate it.
This poem, I like it.
