I Just Let You Be

I Just Let You Be

A Poem by Carlie
"

I wrote this after reflecting on myself and how much I had really done to help others. Inspired by all those who I never took the time to help.

"
As I walked down that crowded street
With all those different people
Not once before did we meet
But that day you caught my eye

I can't recall now what it was
That drew me to your gaze
But as I looked at you
I saw past that facade

Even as you looked at me
I knew your smile was tired
But I continued on my way
I just let you be

Not a smile did I lend
A friendly wave I did not give
And as I lay in bed tonight
I really can’t believe
I just let you be

I could see it in your eyes
The pain that you would not speak
But alas, I didn’t do a thing
No, I just let you be

I wonder now what might have been
If I had just been kind
Maybe I could have helped
Instead, I just let you be

There are days we all feel lonely
When we wish someone would call
When we hope with all our heart
That someone would not just let us be.

I resolve now to be better
I hope you will do the same
For each of us will struggle
With pains that any other would never want to bear

I am sorry for your struggle
I am sorry for your pain
But most all I am sorry...
I just let you be
