New ExperienceA Chapter by BakaBrookTour no.1. Kori is not a morning person and Anthony's teasing doesn't amuse her. All she seems to do is practice, but is that all? And what does the mysterious woman, named Brooklyn, have planned?Chapter 4: New Experience Kori walked into the reserved cafe in the hotel. The night before was very vague to her, almost like a dream. “Look who showed up. Took your time,” Anthony said, loving the thought of winding her up. “Shut up Annie, I’m not in the f*****g mood...” Kori snapped back, wanting to punch him. She did not realise that the female she’d spent the previous night with was sitting on the other side of the table. Sam had placed a coffee down next to her, knowing exactly what she liked and most likely needed. “Ugh...” Kori folded her arms on the desk and buried her head within them. “Rough night?” Alanah asked, poking her forehead. “Define ‘rough’” Kori giggled, raising her head. “I know that tone, guess you had alot more fun than me...” Michael pushed the coffee closer towards her and watched as her eyes lit up. “Coffee, two sugars, too much milk?” Kori asked, smiling lightly. “Mhm, plus... Brooklyn called...” Sam replied, leaning back on her chair. “WHAT DID SHE SAY?! HAS SOMETHING HAPPENED?!” Both Kori and Alanah shouted, shooting their sights to the only other female in their band. “She’s fine, in fact... she’s ecstatic. She’s got something planned for tonight though...” Sam giggled to herself, knowing exactly what their absent member has planned. “Oh god...” Both Kori and Alanah said, face-palming.
“This could be bad...” Kori soon looked up and gasped, falling back from her chair. Taylor burst out laughing, the reaction from the slightly smaller female was the best thing she’d seen since the night before. Cameron pulled Kori up, shaking his head. “You really don’t take in the obvious details, do you?” Michael said, also shaking his head. Kori sat up straight, keeping her sights on the plastic coffee cup; trying to avoid eye contact with the opposite female. “So, what happened to you all last night?” Taylor asked, keeping her sights on the female who’d caught her attention the day before. “OOO! OOO! I BOUGHT A MANGA!” Alanah said, borderline shouting. “A what?” Jordon asked, not familiar with Japanese merchandise. “A Japanese graphic novel. Most of the time they’re either based on an anime or have an anime based on them. Sometimes they don’t have either. For example, there is an anime called Gravitation. It has 12 mangas, 13 anime episodes and 2 OVAs. The mangas were wrote before the anime and then the OVA, expecting that people had read the mangas first. Then the anime, which is completely different to the mangas.” Anthony explained. Kori was silent through all of this, she was thinking. “Isn’t our first gig tonight, the 21st?” Kori asked, standing up. “Yeah, is there something wrong with that?” Taylor asked, also standing up. “Kori?!” Sam said. “Where are you going? Is something wrong?” “N-no! But... I need to rehearse!” She began to walk, soon exiting the building; having left Brooklyn’s guitar at the stage along with everyone else’s equipment. “Maybe I should go check on her, she seems a bit down...” Alanah said, wiping her mouth with a tissue; knowing exactly what she was thinking. Alanah was Brooklyn’s best friend and, with Kori constantly being around her, Alanah learnt how she thinks quite easily. Brooklyn and Kori had similar ways of thinking but, they never shared their thoughts together in public; it’s a trust thing. “No. I’ll go. I left my phone there.” Taylor said, waving to everyone as she left.
Kori had already set up her equiptment, she was nervous for the night to come but, being one of the more confident ones in the band, she kept it to herself. She picked up her guitar and started playing. Her normal session consisted of playing random songs, mostly from shuffling her iPod but this time, she stuck to songs by We Are The In Crowd, unaware that Taylor was seconds away from the stage. “I’ll
never be what you want, you couldn’t take any part of me just to make you stay.
You had a piece of my heart but not enough to just run away"“ “Take all your big plans and through them away, I’ve got something in mind before we go separate ways.” Kori sang, playing along. “We ask the questions baby, who provides the answers?” Taylor walked over and sat down next to Kori. Both continued singing until they’d finished the song. Kori was totally speechless afterwards, she couldn’t take in the fact that she’d just sang a duet with her idol. Taylor stood up and shyly leaned in closer, her mouth now close to Kori’s ear. “You’re good.” Taylor whispered, sitting back down. This only made Kori’s blush darken, her eyes widened slightly. “Th-Thank you” Kori had to turn her head, trying to hide her watering eyes. Taylor had caught the action and, soon after, leaned up, placing her hand on the smaller female’s face. “Something is obviously bothering you. You can tell me...” Taylor kept her eyes on the female, concerned. “I have a feeling that Brooklyn will be at the gig... I can’t let her down... Not on my first gig...” Kori dropped her sights to her guitar, keeping herself from crying. “This is your first gig?” Taylor was surprised, Kori seemed so confident; not like a newby. “Mhm...” Kori leaned her head back, sighing quietly. Taylor stood up and kissed Kori’s forehead. Taylor could hardly remember her first tour, it was that long ago. “Maybe... Maybe you should spend the day walking around Newcastle? It’s your home, it may be able to calm you down.” Newcastle O2 Academy, 5:36pm. “Dude! We’re on in like 20 minutes!” Anthony came back into the almost empty backstage room. Kori was the only one there. “I know! I’m"“ Kori’s eyes widened when she heard the screams from the fans. Of course, most were for the more famous band but, it felt good to hear how many people were there. “Kori?!” Anthony looked a little worried at the sudden cut. “Is our equipment ready? And is everyone else ready?” Kori asked, quickly standing up. “Yes, why?” Anthony looked a bit confused. “ Can we go on early?” Kori placed her phone on the dresser and walked to the door that Anthony was standing near. “Well... I’ll have to go and get everyone but, okay!” Anthony walked away from the room and, excited, ran around looking for the others. Kori took a few deep breaths and walked out of the room, only to walk into Taylor. “How’re you coping?” Taylor asked, wrapping her arms around Kori’s waist. Kori’s face burned red. “I’m coping fine! Just fine!” Kori replied, resting her head on Taylor’s shoulder. Kori was content, she held onto the slightly taller female tightly; slowly closing her eyes. “I probably have about 5 minutes before everyone finds there way here. We’re going on a bit early.” Kori sighed happily, smiling lightly. “Well, look who found a fixed girlfriend.” Both Kori and Taylor heard the voice behind them, it was a female but, Taylor didn’t know who it was. “OH MY GOD!” Kori shouted and quickly pulled away from Taylor. “Wow, I quite like the reaction this time; alot better than last time’s.” The female spoke once again, opening her arms. “Excuse me but, who are you?” Taylor asked, lost in the convocation. “I’m sorry, pardon my manner. My name is Brooklyn, I’m the usual lead guitarist in the band. And you must be Taylor Jardine. My my Kori, you’ve outdone yourself. But may I ask, where did you put my hug this time?” Brooklyn replied, smiling lightly. Kori’s eyes began to water as she quickly ran over to the female and hugged her tightly. “I missed you... Alot...” Kori burst out in tears, gripping Brooklyn’s shirt tightly and burying her head into her chest. “Kori...” Brooklyn placed her hand gently on Kori’s head. “BROOKLYN?! OH MY GOD!” Alanah shouted, jumping on top of Brooklyn. “ERMAHGERD JEFF!” Jeff was the name that Brooklyn used to call Alanah when they were 14; Alanah would call Brooklyn Brian. “Aren’t you meant to be on stage in like 2 minutes?” Taylor asked, pointing to the rows of fan girls and boys. Brooklyn smiled warmly, being able to watch the band she’d formed perform for the first time without her. “I dare you to do an entrance.” Anthony said, knowing that Kori NEVER turned down a dare. Kori’s eyes lit up as she caught sight of the stage. “Nice thought.” Kori winked at Anthony and grabbed her hoodie, putting it on and pulling the hood up. “Oh god... Remember, stop at the mic for best results, spin once, don’t milk it.” Brooklyn sighed lightly but kept her eyes on the younger female. Kori grinned and started running on stage, jumping in the air and performing a quick somersault, landing in front of the microphone and quickly grabbing it. “ALRIGHT ROCKERS! WHO’S READY TO GET THIS PARTY STARTED!?!” Kori shouted, rolling her sleeved up. The rest of the band came on around 3 seconds later and got ready, Kori grabbed her guitar and stepped back, allowing Sam to grab the mic. © 2013 BakaBrookAuthor's Note
