Chapter 3: Pressure “So, Brooklyn is kind like a mom to you?” Taylor asked. Both females had been talking for about one hour after the movie had finished. They were now listening to one of the playlists Brooklyn had put together for Kori. “You could say that. When my parents died... I didn’t really have anyone. I did have a sibling but she had also passed away... I was around 11 when that happened... She was Brooklyn’s best friend. Her girlfriend took it really bad... That’s when Brooklyn came into the scene. She was talented, caring, intelligent and tried to be kind to almost everyone... she was like a role model... She concentrated on music more than anything else, although she was involved with alot of extracurricular activities that almost everyone knew about, some that only a handful did. I’d seen her around quite alot over the school holidays, I wanted to talk to her but she was always being followed by people that admired her to the point of stalking her almost every time she went outside. Sometimes she would turn around and tell them to leave her be for a while but, she didn’t like to be so rude. When school reopened, we just happened to have picked the same options and be in the same music class. She played quite alot of instruments but concentrated on guitar more than anything. Me being the only other guitarist in the music class, we tended to be around each other alot in those classes. We got to know each other and found that we had a very similar music taste, her favourite band at the time was The Maine and mine was We Are The In Crowd. She literally worshipped Taylor Swift whereas I had a borderline obsession with you. But, there was one thing about her she wouldn’t tell me about... She hated males... I don’t even know now why she hated them. There was this guy, James, everyone said that he was Brooklyn’s equal; they said that they should get together but... Brooklyn wasn’t interested; she wasn’t the kind of person to show such emotion in public. It was a few months later... The month was September, the date was the 6th. That day just so happened to by both of our birthdays. I had bought her necklace, I had seen her eyeing it up every time she passed the shop that sold it. I found the money for it a few days before, I was gonna buy the new Zelda game with it but remembered when her birthday was. That night, there was an earthquake; it hit the schoolhouse pretty bad. My friend, Jenna, tried to get me out of the building but, I went back. I had forgotten to pick up the necklace... I couldn’t leave it behind... The window in the bedroom had smashed and with the impact and endless shaking from the earthquake, I had fallen next to it, almost unconscious with the necklace in my hand. I must have passed out because... I awoke with Brooklyn’s lips pressed against mine...” Kori looked off to the side, staring at the window. “What happened after that?” Taylor asked, scooting closer to the almost crying female. “We started going out. Brooklyn didn’t want to tell anyone since she hadn’t came out. There would be uproar among everyone in school if it was said that we were going out. Of course, nobody knew about me either, people would start putting pieces together if that was out also.” Kori looked down, wiping a small tear from her eye. Taylor crawled over to Kori and wrapped her arms gently around her. “So, why did you two break up?” She asked, unable to think of the reaction she will get. Kori stayed quiet for a few seconds and buried her head into Taylor’s chest, gripping her shirt. “Brooklyn lived alone, she had nobody to talk to about what was going on. She had to put on a smile in public. It was slowly taking effect, not physically, but mentally. It was quite obvious that she loved me and didn’t want to let me go but... I couldn’t stand seeing her in those states... Yes, I was the one that ended it but, nothing has been awkward since.” Taylor was speechless, she couldn’t think of anything to say for the current situation. “K-Kori...” Was all she could say. “I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to place all of this on you... You’re the first person I’ve told this to... I don’t even think Brooklyn has told her girlfriend...” “O-oh... So, people do know now about both of you being lesbian/bi?” “Yes...” “I see...” “Have you ever tried it?” “Tried what?” “Being with a female?” “I can’t say that I have, why?” “Would you like to give it a shot?” “I... I don’t know...” Kori raised her head and flashed a light smile. “We um... We could give it a shot, if you don’t like it then we can leave it and forget all about it.” Taylor thought for a moment before nodding. Kori blushed a dark shade of red and softly pressed her lips against Taylor’s, placing her hands gently on her shoulders. Taylor gasped lightly and tightened her grip around Kori’s waist, pulling her closer. Kori widened her eyes, surprised at the outcome. Kori slowly pulled away from the kiss and stared at Taylor, speechless. “Are you okay, Kori?”Taylor asked, noticing Kori’s flushed face. “Y-Yes. I-I should be a-asking you t-that.” Kori placed her hand gently on Taylor’s cheek and flashed a smile. “Me? I’m alright” Taylor giggled and pushed Kori down onto the bed. “T-Taylor?!” Kori’s eyes widened once again. “Try not to make much noise.” © 2013 BakaBrookAuthor's Note
