Luminary Numen

by Amy McFate

Firmaments rained when the goddess was born,

in petal-drop tears from halcyon blooms.

The atmosphere, filling with fragrances rare,

went swirling like mutable ecstasies.

Her child-mind shot out through clouds of glass

to shatter their shroud-like complacency.

The jagged shards fell in desensitized wells

piercing the Beast Lords of Ennui.

Their blood ran like lava to feed the flames

of humanity's hatred of itself.

Worlds within and worlds without

burned in the darkness with tiger eye flames.

The child goddess hovered on green dragon wings

and sent the Great Bears to dig bottomless wells

to fill with her teardrops of kindness and love.

She then sent the massive Elephant Lords

with wagons of arrows to pierce the clouds.

Raindrops are falling like luminous pearls-

one for every burning beast-

if we swallow our fire and lift our eyes

we can drink the sacred drops of light.
