A Cat and His PizzaA Story by Kristen NguyenThis is a story I wrote at 1 in the morning out of boredom. I got the idea from a writing prompt off of Tumblr. Enjoy!A Cat and His PizzaEver since the cat was little, pizza had always been there for him. Pizza was the only thing in his life that was constant, something he knew would never change, would always stay the same, something he would never have to worry about changing into something else and never being what he grew up with and came to know and love his whole life. It seemed as if everything in his life was just so inconsistent. He never felt control of his life. The world was always changing, and he hated it. He hated change. He had never understood how humans were able to adapt to such a change. And he didn't think he ever would. But, what he did know, was that pizza had always been there for him. And although there were many types of pizzas out there, at the end of the day, pizza was still pizza. It knew what it was and it stayed that way. It never tried to be something it wasn't just to impress people. It wasn't fake. It was pizza. It. Stayed. Consistent. No matter what. And he appreciated it so much for that, more than anyone could ever know. He felt solace in the fact that he could always come back to the pizza he's come to know and love at the end of the day. The cat's never found himself getting too attached to anyone after the death of his family. He never wanted to experience something so sad in his life again. The pain, the grieving, the mourning process, the harsh reality of having to accept that someone he cared for so much was gone. And they were never coming back. He always just told himself, "They're in a better place," and that as long as they were happy, then so would he. But, you know, once you've suffered a loss, you never truly get over it. You may be able to move on, but that pain will be a part of you forever. But, with pizza, he knows that he'll never have to deal with that. There's no illness and therefore no death, no tears, no heartache. Pizza doesn't die. And although he could never have any conversations with it, because he's a cat, he knew that there would always be something in his life that he could depend on, something that would never leave him, something he would never have to say goodbye to, and that was good enough for him.
