"Demons Disguised As SoldiersA Poem by Kristen NguyenThis is a story I wrote for my 10th grade World History class last year. It stressed me out writing it but I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. Enjoy!"Demons Disguised As Soldiers"Time and time again I find myself here Why must the war go on? Is God near? Let me speak to him, for I have questions People perish before me every day I am a lowly witness of Death's handiwork It causes me great dismay Why, God? Men risking their lives every day in the trenches Shot down, their bodies twisting and turning like wrenches Demons disguises as soldiers, taking out their opponents With reckless abandon, one by one Their fierce yet anguished cries are heard all throughout Acting as a warning who all who try to stop them Men hoping and fighting for a better life Struggling to maintain their sanity The only thing that keeps them going is their families And the thought of freedom The lord looks down at them, whispering words of hope "Do not fret; The war will be over soon"
